Damning study published about Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover

Neo-Nazis have been allowed back onto the network, and Musk has interacted with them on his timeline and published numerous tweets that speak to them specifically.

Since Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, a new study has discovered a spike in extreme users, particularly those spreading antisemitic messages, who have returned to the platform in large numbers.

According to Vice, the platform’s new CEO has recently reinstated the accounts of known neo-Nazis, shared a photo of a white supremacist who said he wanted Trump to be more like Hitler, failed to stop users from posting videos of the Christchurch shooting, tweeted an alt-right meme, used an antisemitic trope, and, whether intentionally or not, shared a dog whistle that white supremacists mistook for praise for Trump.

According to a study conducted by the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) and the Combat Antisemitism Movement, Kanye “Ye” West’s antisemitic outbursts have received a lot of attention.

According to the groups’ research, tweets about Jews on the platform have seen a 136% spike in harmful remarks, threats, and identity attacks.

The report was released shortly after Twitter, the only major social media network that had permitted Fuentes’ online activity, temporarily reinstated his account in late January.

Fuentes is seen as a Holocaust denier who openly and unrepentantly advocates antisemitism.

According to Platformer, 62,000 accounts with more than 10,000 followers have already been evaluated for restoration.

Brett Stevens, a far-right racist who praised the 2011 mass murder of 77 people in Norway by a convicted terrorist who did the Nazi salute in court earlier this year, is one of the accounts that have already returned to Twitter since Musk took over.

In response to Musk joining the company’s board in April, neo-Nazi Groyper accounts first joined the site.

They grew to their peak levels (about 2,000% growth) in the middle of the month, with his purchase offer announcement.
