Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that there are no concrete talks going on between Premier League leaders Arsenal, and talented Brazilian attacker Vitor Roque over a potential summer move to the Emirates.
The well-known and well-respected journalist wrote: “Understand Vitor Roque plan is to move and pick his future club soon — not late in the summer window.
“Barça, favorite option but no agreement at this stage due to Financial Fair Play situation.
“No concrete talks with Arsenal. Other PL clubs entering the race.”
This comes after TEAMTALK’s Graeme Bailey reported that Arsenal are making progress in their pursuit of Athletico Paranaense sensation, while Barcelona’s discussions for the striker have stalled.
90min even claimed the Gunners are in contact with Vitor Roque’s representatives regarding a future move to the Premier League.
And now, Romano has provided an update on the situation surrounding the 18-year-old, which are contrary to the strong rumours linking Roque with the Gunners.
The Italian journalist has revealed there are no concrete talks with Arsenal, and added that the teenage star’s ‘favourite option’ is Barcelona at the moment but the Catalan giants haven’t reached a deal owing to their financial difficulties.
Romano also notes that other Premier League clubs are entering in the race, which certainly makes things complicated for Barcelona who fear any transfer battle could result in a further increase in their top target’s price-tag.
The 18-year-old centre-forward has risen to prominence in the last year as a result of his performances for Athletico and the Brazil U-20 team. He just made his senior debut for the national team, and he has notched four goals in nine games this season.
As per the transfer specialist, Roque does not intend to wait for long to decide on his next destination. The striker wishes to pick his next club sooner rather than later and does not want to delay the move until late in the summer window.
