Geo Exploration Ltd (LON: GEX) has confirmed that its 2026 work programme at the Gorge project in Western Australia has officially begun, the London-listed company announced on Tuesday.
The oil and gas exploration company focuses its operations across Africa, Australia and the Mediterranean, with the Gorge project representing a key part of its Australian portfolio.
Airborne geophysical surveys form the centrepiece of the current work programme, covering a range of data collection methods across the project area in Western Australia.
The planned surveys include magnetic, radiometric, LiDAR and aerial photography components, each contributing distinct datasets to the broader exploration effort at the site.
Geo Exploration stated that these datasets will support detailed mapping of historical workings and deriving a litho-structural interpretation to assist target generation at the project.
Geological reconnaissance work also forms part of the programme, with the company focusing on historical geochemical results gathered from previous exploration activity at the site.
Work on potential drill locations is also underway as part of the reconnaissance phase, indicating the company is already assessing where future drilling activity might be targeted.
The combination of airborne survey data and ground-level reconnaissance is designed to build a clearer picture of the project’s geological structure and mineral potential.
Shares in Geo Exploration (LON: GEX) traded at 0.083 pence on Tuesday afternoon in London, representing a rise of 0.6% on the day as the work programme announcement was made public.
The company has not provided a timeline for when the airborne surveys are expected to be completed or when results from the datasets might be published for investors.
Geo Exploration’s multi-region strategy spans three continents, with Western Australia representing one of several active exploration fronts the company is currently pursuing across its portfolio.
The Gorge project work programme launch marks an operational milestone for the company as it progresses its Australian assets through the early-stage exploration phase in 2026.
