PwC Becomes Largest Customer and First Reseller of OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise

According to the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the deal, PwC will provide ChatGPT Enterprise to its 75,000 U.S. employees and 26,000 UK employees.

PwC announced on Wednesday that it will become the largest customer and first reseller of OpenAI’s enterprise product, as businesses rapidly adopt generative artificial intelligence.

PwC plans to implement ChatGPT Enterprise, a version of the AI startup’s chatbot designed for large corporations.

According to the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the deal, PwC will provide ChatGPT Enterprise to its 75,000 U.S. employees and 26,000 UK employees.

“We are actively engaged in genAI with over 95% of UK and US consulting client accounts, alongside discussing the use and implications of AI with many of our audit clients,” PwC stated.

However, PwC did not disclose the financial terms of the deal or specific details on its plans to resell the AI product. OpenAI did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

PwC mentioned it has been developing custom GPTs to assist employees with tasks such as reviewing tax returns and generating dashboards and reports.

This agreement with OpenAI builds on PwC’s earlier announcement of a $1 billion investment in generative AI technology.

OpenAI, backed by Microsoft, has been expanding its enterprise customer base.

In April, Reuters reported that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman hosted hundreds of Fortune 500 company executives in San Francisco, New York, and London to pitch AI services for corporate use, sometimes competing directly with Microsoft.

In addition, the Wall Street Journal, owned by News Corp, entered into a content agreement with OpenAI earlier in May.
