Before the summer transfer window opens, Tottenham is reportedly first in line to sign Rodrigo De Paul from Atletico Madrid.
According to Inter Live, De Paul is coveted by a number of clubs in England and Italy, as well as Spurs.
These clubs include Roma, AC Milan, Brentford, and Everton.
According to the outlet, Spurs are in the lead to recruit the 28-year-old because former Spurs sporting director Fabio Paratici initiated negotiations with him right before he took a leave of absence due to alleged offences he was said to have committed while at Juventus.
De Paul, an Atletico Madrid player known for his willingness to participate in the scrappy side of the game, was an important member of Argentina’s World Cup-winning team in the winter.
According to Inter Live, €30 million might be enough to persuade Atletico to sell De Paul, which would create a significant vacancy in Diego Simeone’s midfield given what he brings to the table in that position.
A lot of teams are reportedly interested in him, so it will be intriguing to see if anyone can convince him to leave Spain this summer.
