Declan Rice may not end up going to Arsenal this summer if West Ham won’t lower their high asking price.
According to The Boot Room, Rice will eventually leave the Hammers this summer and is predicted to garner at least £80 million.
Yet, there have been rumours of payments over £100 million, so for the majority of teams interested in him, it would be a record purchase.
The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool are rumoured to be interested in signing Rice in addition to Arsenal.
Although Arsenal has long been considered the favourite, Si Phillips, a journalist, asserted that things aren’t quite that simple.
In an interview with GiveMeSport, Phillips detailed how Arsenal wants Rice but is unwilling to overpay for him.
“It’s been described to me as a lot more open the race to signing you know, we’ve been hearing Arsenal are well ahead and laying down the foundations and they’ve got a better chance,” Phillips said.
“But the reason I’ve been told this is Arsenal aren’t prepared to pay the high fee that they’re being quoted by West Ham for Rice at the moment so that leaves Chelsea very much still in this race, because they would be prepared to pay what it takes.”
