Chinese electronics manufacturer Xiaomi (1810.HK) launched its latest AI-enhanced and photography-focused 14 Series smartphone for international markets on Sunday, alongside a range of wearable gadgets.
According to a statement from Xiaomi, the new Xiaomi 14 Ultra phone, developed in collaboration with German camera giant Leica, boasts a quad-camera setup. Meanwhile, its smaller counterpart, the Xiaomi 14, features a triple-camera configuration.
These phones incorporate extensive AI capabilities across various applications.
For instance, there’s a tool enabling real-time transcriptions during conferences, as well as a feature allowing users to describe a photo, prompting the AI to locate it within their gallery.
In anticipation of the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, where tech and telecom companies often unveil new products, businesses are rolling out innovations, banking on the allure of AI to drive sales.
However, experts caution that the rise of generative AI could spark legal and ethical dilemmas.
Xiaomi secured the third position globally in smartphone market share last year, capturing 12.5% of the market, trailing behind Apple (AAPL.O) with 20.1% and Samsung (005930.KS) with 19.4%, according to IDC data.
In addition to smartphones, Xiaomi introduced new wearable products, including the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro, Xiaomi Watch S3, and Xiaomi Watch 2.
These devices are tailored for sports, health, and wellness activities, the company claims.
