Chelsea and England footballer Cole Palmer has launched a new product line called “Cole’d,” a range of premium craft ice sold through grocery delivery platform Gopuff.
The range is named after his well-known “Cold Palmer” nickname and includes chewable pebble ice with added electrolytes, as well as large, football-shaped ice spheres available in both the UK and the US.
The launch marks the beginning of a multi-year partnership between the 24-year-old forward and Gopuff, which competes with delivery platforms Deliveroo and Uber Eats.
Palmer was a surprising omission from England’s squad for the World Cup, despite being widely expected to feature and appearing in tournament advertising campaigns for Coca-Cola and Nike.
“Gopuff was already part of the routine, so when they came to me with the idea, it just made sense,” said Palmer.
“What started as a bit of fun turned into something proper. I’ve been involved in everything – the product, the packaging, the content – and that’s what interested me.”
Palmer added that the fan-driven nickname provided the natural foundation for the venture, saying: “The fans started the whole ‘Cold Palmer’ thing in the first place, so it’s nice to turn that into something everyone can be part of.”
Shoppers can pick up a 2kg bag of Cole’d pebble ice with electrolytes for £2.50, a four-pack of Cole’d football craft ice for £4, or 2kg of Cole’d regular ice for £2 through Gopuff.
The product launch follows Palmer and his management trademarking the Cold Palmer name and images of his signature shivering goal celebration last year, though they were forced to drop an application covering wine and alcohol after a challenge from French vineyard Chateau Palmer.
Gopuff co-founder Yakir Gola said the platform is designed to help athletes bring unconventional ideas to market, describing the Cole’d range as a first-of-its-kind product.
