Insulet Corporation (NASDAQ: PODD), maker of the Omnipod tubeless insulin pump, has announced a global partnership with mental health app Calm to support the emotional wellbeing of people living with diabetes.
The collaboration introduces The Mind in Range Collection, marking Calm’s first integrated content partnership with a MedTech company anywhere in the world.
The collection includes a series of short meditations, a breathing exercise, and a new Calm Sleep Story designed specifically for the diabetes community.
All resources within The Mind in Range Collection will be made available at no cost to people with diabetes, their caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
The Sleep Story within the collection is narrated by Omnipod user and fashion model Lila Moss, and is designed to help listeners unwind and feel emotionally supported.
Insulet’s own global research underpins the initiative, finding that 66% of people with diabetes and 46% of caregivers report poor-quality sleep driven by diabetes-related stress and anxiety.
The same research found that 62% of people with type 1 diabetes and 60% of those with type 2 diabetes say they want support that includes mental health and mindfulness resources.
Among people already using mindfulness tools, 39% report less stress and 33% report experiencing less anxiety and fewer sleep problems as a result.
Manoj Raghunandanan, Chief Growth Officer at Insulet, said: “Living with this condition requires constant decisions, and over time that responsibility can create real stress and anxiety.”
Raghunandanan added that “global data suggest that nearly 80% of people living with diabetes suffer burnout from the emotional strain and demands of daily management.”
His statement outlined Insulet’s core ambition for the partnership, saying the company holds itself to “a clear standard: do more for people while asking less of them.”
Dr. Chris Mosunic, Calm’s Chief Clinical Officer, said the partnership would deliver “tools and support that reduce cognitive burden and relieve emotional stress to improve mental wellness.”
With 359 million people worldwide living with an anxiety disorder, and people with diabetes being 20% more likely to develop anxiety, the mental health gap in diabetes care is well established.
The initiative will roll out globally, with content available on the Calm and Calm Sleep apps and promoted across both Omnipod and Calm channels throughout the year.
