Quanterix (QTRX) Names GE Healthcare And Exact Sciences Veteran Jim Gute As Chief Commercial Officer

Quanterix Corporation has appointed medtech veteran Jim Gute as its new chief commercial officer, signalling an ambitious push to accelerate commercial growth.

Gute joins Quanterix from Exact Sciences, where he served as senior vice president and commercial manager of general screening before departing the company.

His exit from Exact Sciences came months after the company was acquired by Abbott in a $23 billion merger deal that reshaped the diagnostics landscape.

Prior to Exact Sciences, Gute served as president of GE Healthcare, having spent 18 years across various roles at the health technology giant.

Quanterix has tasked Gute with what the company describes as a “re-acceleration of growth within the company’s commercial operations,” according to an August release.

His appointment is part of a broader hiring spree at the firm, which has also added industry veteran Geoff Albrecht as senior vice president and general manager of diagnostics.

The company has further bolstered its leadership ranks by naming Anthony Catalano as chief operating officer and Jason Faessler as chief financial officer.

At the start of this year, Quanterix also appointed Everett Cunningham, formerly Illumina’s commercial lead, as its new chief executive and president, adding further senior firepower to its management team.

Cunningham himself shares professional history with Gute, having previously worked at both Exact Sciences and GE Healthcare during his career.

Quanterix said Gute’s hiring has allowed it to “finish building its senior management team ahead of its anticipated higher growth phase, especially in the Diagnostics business.”

Gute will lead the commercial organisation with particular focus on the Alzheimer’s disease diagnostics market, a sector drawing significant attention from the broader healthcare industry.

He is expected to drive accountability across Quanterix’s Simoa, Spatial, and Accelerator platforms through a solution-oriented selling approach, moving away from traditional geographic-based sales structures.

The shift represents a strategic move toward specialised, product-focused sales teams designed to leverage the highly technical nature of Quanterix’s instruments, assays, and diagnostic offerings.

Quanterix develops ultrasensitive digital immunoassay platforms, many of which are powered by its proprietary Simoa, or single molecule array, technology.
