Lucid Group Appoints Publicis Health Executive Eric Muller As Chief Executive Officer

Lucid Group, a healthcare communications and commercialisation agency, has appointed Eric Muller as its new chief executive officer.

Muller joins from Publicis Health, where he held the position of Group President and Chief Operating Officer before making the move.

His career also includes senior roles at Digitas Health and Grey Advertising, giving him a broad background across healthcare and advertising.

Muller succeeds Rick Sannem in the top job, with Sannem transitioning into a strategic advisor role for the agency’s board.

The incoming CEO faces an immediate mandate focused on growth across several key areas of the business.

According to an official release, Muller’s priorities will centre on “expanding talent, client partnerships as well as data and technological capabilities.”

Building out Lucid’s artificial intelligence capabilities forms a central part of that agenda, reflecting an industry-wide push among healthcare agencies in 2026.

Muller signalled his broader vision for the role in a statement, pointing to a significant shift underway across the sector as a whole.

“Healthcare is entering a new era, driven by extraordinary advances in science, data, and technology,” he said.

“Clients increasingly need a partner that turns complexity into clarity and impact by bringing together scientific expertise, creativity, and strategy, along with the power of data and AI,” Muller added.

He went on to emphasise the growing importance of filtering relevant insight from an ever-expanding pool of available information and outputs.

“As data multiplies and development accelerates, knowing which evidence matters and what creative output will persuade is the part that becomes critical,” he said.

Lucid Group’s decision to recruit from within the Publicis Health network underscores the premium placed on deep sector experience at the leadership level.

The appointment arrives at a pivotal moment for healthcare agencies, as clients demand more sophisticated integration of science, creativity, and advanced data capabilities from their agency partners.
