Artis BioSolutions has launched a new Genetic Medicines Center of Excellence in Bilbao, Spain, expanding its integrated development and manufacturing capabilities.
The facility strengthens the San Diego-based company’s position as a technology innovator focused on next-generation genetic medicines across global markets.
The Bilbao centre offers an end-to-end development and manufacturing platform spanning synthetic DNA and mRNA drug substance manufacturing under one roof.
Lipid nanoparticle formulation and manufacturing services, alongside GMP drug product manufacturing, are also integrated within the new Spanish facility.
By combining all of these capabilities within a single organisation, Artis aims to create multiple customer development entry points while streamlining its CDMO services.
The integrated model is designed to reduce technology transfer burdens and more efficiently advance programmes from early development through clinical trials and commercialisation.
CEO Brian Neel said that “the future of genetic medicines demands new innovations and integrated partners,” underlining the strategic rationale behind the Bilbao investment.
Neel added that by combining synthetic DNA, mRNA, LNP technologies, and GMP manufacturing within one organisation, Artis is creating a platform that allows customers to “move faster, reduce complexity and cost, and accelerate the delivery of transformative therapies to patients.”
The Spanish facility complements Artis BioSolutions’ existing US presence at its Boston BioSolutions site located in Watertown, Massachusetts.
