Jaguar Unveils Minimalist Type 01 Interior Ahead Of October New York Debut

Jaguar has revealed the full interior of its Type 01 electric grand tourer, offering the clearest look yet at the car leading its transformation into an all-electric luxury brand.

The four-seat GT will receive its complete unveiling in New York on 6 October, but Jaguar has now shown the cabin without the camouflage wrapping its prototypes during testing.

The design follows the radical Type 00 concept closely, with Jaguar describing the production interior as a “concept car vision brought to production.”

Its defining feature is a central spine running between the front and rear seats, separating the cabin into four individual spaces for each occupant.

Jaguar calls the spine a “signature art piece,” with a brass-inspired finish contrasting against the darker surrounding cabin materials throughout the interior.

The dashboard is deliberately sparse, featuring a digital display in front of the driver and a relatively small touchscreen for heating and infotainment rising from the central spine.

This approach represents a significant departure from the large-screen philosophy adopted by many competing luxury electric vehicles currently on the market.

The Type 01 will also eliminate a conventional rear window and physical rear-view mirror entirely, replacing both with a digital rear-view camera system instead.

The display is positioned at the base of the windscreen, roughly level with the wing mirrors, making the Type 01 similar in concept to the Polestar 4.

Jaguar has also carried exterior design cues directly into the cabin, with the “strikethrough” motif visible on the dashboard also appearing on the leading edge of the bonnet.

A panoramic glass roof section brings natural light into what could otherwise feel like a very enclosed interior given the car’s low, sweeping roofline.

Jaguar has drawn inspiration from materials including travertine stone and what it describes as rich textures from artisan textiles, reinforcing its luxury positioning.

The leaper logo is embossed into the door trim, while the central spine and upper door sections carry the brass-inspired finish seen throughout the cabin.

These material choices matter significantly because the Type 01 is being positioned as a genuine luxury GT rather than simply another electric performance car.

Jaguar will display the Type 01 at Monterey Car Week in California before the full New York unveiling on 6 October, where the complete production specification will be confirmed.

The Type 01 is expected to become the first production model of Jaguar’s electric reinvention, making its launch one of the more consequential moments in the company’s modern history.
