Law firm Colombo & Hurd has secured approval of an EB-1A Extraordinary Ability petition for a Romanian journalist specialising in international news coverage and network productions.
The petition was approved by USCIS through Premium Processing following a successful response to a Request for Evidence, known as an RFE.
The journalist leads a collaboration between an international news network and the broadcaster that represents it in Romania, overseeing the network’s in-country presence.
She is also responsible for the production of the channel’s main newscast, making her one of the more senior figures in Romanian broadcast journalism.
Attorney Anthony S. DeLucia, a Partner at Colombo & Hurd, led both the original petition and the subsequent RFE response on her behalf.
The client holds a bachelor’s degree in communication science with a specialisation in journalism, providing a strong academic foundation for her career.
Over a career spanning more than 19 years, she has risen from producer to executive producer and editorial leader at some of Romania’s main news organisations.
Her responsibilities have included coordinating live coverage, managing on-air talent, and overseeing complex reporting for national and international audiences.
Her work has included leading coverage of the war in Ukraine, with reporting teams on the ground delivering frontline journalism to global viewers.
She also directed on-site coverage of the 2024 US election cycle, with a team under her leadership producing reports that appeared on the network’s global website.
That work resulted in exclusive interviews with high-level officials and reports published under her byline, helping establish her individual profile beyond Romania’s borders.
The EB-1A visa category is among the most demanding immigration classifications available, requiring applicants to demonstrate sustained national or international acclaim in their field.
Television journalism presents a particular challenge in this regard, as awards, ratings, and breaking news stories typically carry the name of the broadcaster rather than the individual professional.
USCIS issued an RFE in this case seeking additional evidence of the journalist’s personal contributions, prompting the Colombo & Hurd legal team to document her specific role behind those results.
The legal team worked to show that her achievements had earned recognition beyond the organisations and audiences she had directly served throughout her career.
