ARS Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: SPRY) has announced a new collaboration with former NFL quarterback and 2026 Hall of Fame inductee Drew Brees to raise awareness about severe allergic reactions.
The campaign centres on educating the public about the role of epinephrine in treating anaphylaxis, with a particular focus on neffy, the company’s epinephrine nasal spray.
Brees, a Super Bowl champion and father of four, personally manages a severe peanut allergy alongside other food sensitivities, making him a natural fit for the campaign.
Type I allergic reactions affect approximately 40 million people across the United States, of which 33 million are estimated to live with food allergies specifically.
Brees said the scale of the problem motivated him to step forward and use his platform to push the conversation into the mainstream.
“I suffered from severe allergies during my career, and you don’t realize, but over 40 million people deal with this on a daily basis, and it’s really a public health crisis,” Brees said.
“Epinephrine is the medication designed to combat a severe allergic reaction, or potentially stop life-threatening anaphylaxis, and that’s why partnering with ARS Pharma was really important,” he added.
A key part of the campaign highlights neffy as a needle-free alternative that is approved for adults and children weighing 33 pounds or more, lowering barriers to emergency treatment.
Brees noted that the product’s portability is a significant draw, pointing out that “it provides a great option that is designed to be easy to carry in your backpack, your golf bag or your gym bag.”
The needle-free format is designed to reduce hesitation in emergency situations, where fear of injections can delay potentially life-saving treatment for those at risk.
Brees also stressed the importance of building an informed support network around people living with severe allergies, saying community awareness can be transformative.
“I think a lot of people with allergies feel like they are isolated,” Brees said. “The more people that know in your circle the better, because they can help you.”
“The preparedness of everybody can give you peace of mind,” he continued, underscoring the campaign’s broader message about planning and everyday readiness.
Company leadership praised the partnership, noting that Brees brings both credibility and authenticity to the collaboration through his lived experience with food allergies.
ARS Pharmaceuticals said the campaign will also encourage patients to consult healthcare providers to develop comprehensive emergency action plans tailored to their individual needs.
