Arendt Investor Services has completed its acquisition by BlackFin Capital Partners following regulatory approval from Luxembourg’s financial regulator, the CSSF.
The transaction signals the beginning of a new strategic phase for AIS, with ambitions centred on international expansion, selective acquisitions, and deeper investment in technology including artificial intelligence.
AIS was originally founded by the partners of Arendt and Medernach and has grown into one of Luxembourg’s leading independent fund and corporate services providers over the years.
The business has built its reputation on deep sector expertise, high-quality execution, and a strong client-focused culture, all of which will remain intact under the new ownership structure.
AIS will continue to operate with the same teams and the same service model, maintaining close cooperation with Arendt, which retains a significant minority shareholding in the business.
Governance continuity is preserved, with Claude Niedner and Jean-Marc Ueberecken remaining on the Board alongside representatives from BlackFin, and the senior management team staying in place.
BlackFin brings a strong track record in building and scaling asset servicing platforms across Europe, along with deep sector expertise and an established international network that AIS can draw upon.
“The partners of Arendt and Medernach created something special when they founded AIS,” said Christian Heinen, CEO of AIS, adding: “We will preserve what made AIS successful while adding new dimensions — greater technological capabilities, stronger commercial reach and a more international footprint.”
Eric May, Founding Partner at BlackFin Capital Partners, said: “Our ambition is to support the company’s continued growth by investing in technology, expanding its international reach and pursuing selective acquisition opportunities, while preserving the client focus and entrepreneurial culture that have made AIS such a success.”
BlackFin is a private equity platform dedicated exclusively to financial services companies across Europe, managing over 4 billion euros in assets under management since its founding in 2009.
The firm employs approximately 60 professionals across offices in Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Brussels, London, and Luxembourg, giving AIS immediate access to a broad European commercial network.
AIS itself is supported by a team of 325 professionals and offers a comprehensive range of fund and corporate services covering the full lifecycle of structures for alternative asset managers, asset servicers, and family offices.
The business operates as a Professional of the Financial Sector under CSSF supervision and is recognised for its ability to support complex, international structures with both operational and legal expertise.
