Daniel Levy has sold the majority of his shares in ENIC Sports and Developments Holdings Limited, the parent company of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
Eight Sports Capital, a British Virgin Islands-registered firm, has agreed to purchase a 24.99 per cent stake in ENIC from the trustee of Levy’s family trust.
The transaction leaves Levy, who served as Spurs chief executive until his sudden ousting at the start of last season, with around four per cent of ENIC.
A spokesperson for Eight Sports Capital Limited said: “We are delighted to have signed this agreement to acquire a significant stake in ENIC.”
The spokesperson added: “We look forward to working with the Club’s shareholders, management, staff, players and fans to support Tottenham Hotspur’s continued growth and success.”
Prior to the deal, ENIC was split 70/30 between the Lewis family trust and Levy’s family share, with ENIC itself owning over 85 per cent of Tottenham Hotspur.
The remaining approximately 13 per cent of the club is controlled by around 30,000 minority investors, who hold stakes outside the ENIC structure.
Levy was a polarising figure during his latter years as co-owner, frequently blamed by supporters for declining on-field performances across multiple seasons.
Despite the criticism, he is widely credited with transforming Tottenham Hotspur into a Premier League top-six force, generating revenues of over £500m and securing major commercial deals with the NFL and Formula 1 at the club’s stadium.
Reports had circulated in recent months suggesting the club as a whole could be up for sale, but the Lewis family moved firmly to dismiss that speculation after the conclusion of last season.
“We are not selling the club,” the Lewis family said at the time, adding that further investment and structural change was already under way.
“We are all in, we are investing in it,” the family continued, promising supporters that more developments would become visible in the coming months.
“We care deeply about Spurs,” the statement read. “The rebuild the club needs, and you deserve, has begun. The change required is deep. It will take time and commitment, but change is happening.”
The family concluded: “We know that actions will speak louder than words.”
The arrival of Eight Sports Capital as a significant ENIC shareholder marks a notable shift in the ownership landscape around one of English football’s most commercially powerful clubs.
