David de Gea gives honest verdict on best replacement for Casemiro

Erik ten Hag lacks midfielders because Casemiro is suspended for Manchester United's subsequent three Premier League games after receiving a red card against Crystal Palace.

Casemiro, a midfielder for Manchester United who is facing a three-game suspension, will be replaced by Marcel Sabitzer, David de Gea is confident.

Amid Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace, Casemiro received a straight red card for wrapping his hands around Will Hughes’ neck during a heated altercation involving players from both teams.

The Brazilian player will no longer be eligible to play in United’s home and away matches against Leeds United as well as the visit from Leicester City on February 19.

Christian Eriksen has already been declared out until May for United, and Scott McTominay might be sidelined for up to two weeks as well.

‘It’s going to be tough for sure,’ de Gea said.

‘We already lost Christian, now Casemiro: big players for us. But we have a bigger squad, players are ready to play, everyone is really focused.”

With their victory over Palace, United climbed into third position, eight points behind leaders Arsenal who lost to Everton this past weekend.
