Exclusive: Leicester interested in signing Federico Chiesa from Juventus

Federico Chiesa is one of the most promising young talents in Italian football, but a move away from Serie A could be on the horizon.

Leicester City have expressed interest in signing Federico Chiesa from Juventus, sources told London Insider on Thursday.

Sources told this publication that the Foxes are eager to sign the Italian forward in the Summer, but the Old Lady’s willingness to sell him is difficult to gauge at this moment in time.

It is understood that Juventus would be looking for around $55 million to part ways with him.

Chiesa began playing for the Bianconeri in 2020, with him moving to Turin on loan from Fiorentina.

Juventus made his move permanent in 2022, and after missing most of last year through injury, Chiesa is now starting to get some playing time again.

However, reports of Leicester being interested in purchasing him come amid the 25-year-old being reportedly unhappy with his role at Juve.

Specifically, Chiesa is understood to not be enjoying playing under Massimiliano Allegri’s 3-5-2 formation, with him being more comfortable playing as part of a 4-3-3.

The Bianconeri have had a massively disappointing 2022-2023 season, and they currently sit seventh in the Serie A standings – 30 points adrift of table toppers Napoli.

Leicester, meanwhile, are currently down in 14th in the Premier League table, seven points away from tenth-placed Chelsea.
