KiddeFenwal, described as the global leader in fire protection and safety controls, is presenting its multi-layered solutions for Battery Energy Storage Systems at two major industry events.
The company is exhibiting at both Interschutz in Hanover, Germany and the NFPA Conference and Expo in Las Vegas, two of the industry’s most prominent gatherings.
The focus of the showcases reflects what KiddeFenwal describes as society’s urgent need to mitigate fire hazards posed by Battery Energy Storage Systems amid their rapid adoption across the global energy sector.
While Battery Energy Storage Systems have become vital pillars of 21st-century energy infrastructure, their reliance on lithium-ion batteries creates heightened risk of catastrophic thermal runaway events.
KiddeFenwal is presenting several solutions that, when used together, represent what the company calls an industry first in multi-layered protection for Battery Energy Storage System applications.
The systems on display include REL-iON, a sensor platform monitoring flammable gases, hydrogen, overheating, refrigerant and water leaks, air temperature, humidity changes, and early signs of corrosion and fire.
Additional solutions include air sampling detection for early smoke warning, the AEGIS-PHX and ARIES-SLX fire alarm-suppression control units, and Fluoro-K, a clean agent that reduces temperature and neutralizes flames without leaving harmful residue.
The company is also showcasing NATURA IG-100, an inert gas system using eco-friendly nitrogen that maintains an oxygen-deficient environment incapable of supporting combustion, thereby preventing re-ignition.
Research conducted at the University of Maryland over a multi-year period, alongside controlled fire tests conducted in December 2025, demonstrated that these systems are most effective when deployed in combination.
The combined systems were shown to quickly detect and suppress initial flames, protect costly equipment, and maintain conditions that enhance safety for first responders on the scene.
“The full promise of BESS as reliable and sustainable energy solutions can truly be unleashed when protected with highly sophisticated fire systems,” said Rekha Agrawal, CEO of KiddeFenwal.
“Given our 100-plus years of industry leadership and culture that emphasizes across-the-board innovation, KiddeFenwal is advancing the pioneering fire prevention, detection and suppression systems needed for today’s most forward-thinking energy storage companies worldwide,” Agrawal added.
Visitors can find KiddeFenwal at booth B07 in Hall 12 at Interschutz, which runs from June 1 to 6 in Hanover, Germany.
The company will also be at booth 619 at the NFPA Conference and Expo, taking place in Las Vegas from June 22 to 24.
KiddeFenwal is headquartered in Ashland, Massachusetts, with a growing presence across North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific regions.
