Gabby Agbonlahor has slammed Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford on his recent performance despite the Whites earning a crucial 1-0 victory in the relegation six-pointer.
Javi Gracia’s Leeds United charge got off to a strong and exciting start in a hard-fought match with a Southampton side that are without a permanent managerial appointment.
While there is optimism and something to build from the performance for new boss Gracia, controversial TalkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor is keen to point out negatives and under-performances, singling out forward Bamford for criticism.
Agbonlahor said: “Whenever I have watched him recently, it doesn’t look like he can get around the pitch.”
After scoring 17 goals and assisting a further eight in Leeds’ first campaign back in the top flight in 16 years, Bamford has been unable to build upon it having undergone a torrid time with injury.
The 29-year-old has again been in and out of the team this year and has been in a difficult patch this season for Leeds with him failing to score in his last six Premier League outings.
Having said that, the talkSPORT pundit above observation is totally ridiculous and once again points to fact that these pundits rarely do watch games before dishing out baseless opinions.
Of course, Bamford’s physical capabilities have waned due to countless niggles, he had a decent game last night and put on a respectable performance. The new system has provided him width means more space to work.
He should have won a penalty at the start of the second half, and his dynamic movement caused constant issues for the Saints defence. Busy in the press and was only really missing a goal from his display.
