Michael Saylor Sheds Light on Speed of Strategy Converting Capital Into Bitcoin

Strategy remains the world’s largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, with 640,250 BTC following its latest purchase on October 13 — nearly 2.5% of the total Bitcoin supply.

Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Bitcoin treasury company Strategy, has highlighted how rapidly corporate treasuries can convert capital into Bitcoin.

Speaking on the Market Disrupters podcast released Saturday, Saylor said the company’s investment operations move faster than any traditional asset class, from real estate to oil.

“The investment cycle is a thousand times faster than technology, real estate, oil and gas or anything else you’ve ever seen before in your life,” he said.

He described how Strategy can deploy vast sums in a matter of hours. “Sometimes we’re literally selling 50 million an hour or 100 million an hour and buying the $100 million of Bitcoin the same hour,” he explained. “Like we could do a billion dollars of capital raising in a day and we might have 20 million of exposure at 4 pm, and by 5 pm, 6 pm, we’re fully done.”

Saylor also hinted on Sunday that Strategy may be preparing another major Bitcoin purchase, even as the value of corporate Bitcoin treasuries declines amid falling net asset values.

Strategy Builds ‘In Real Time’

Strategy remains the world’s largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, with 640,250 BTC following its latest purchase on October 13 — nearly 2.5% of the total Bitcoin supply.

Saylor said the company’s unique structure enables it to provide faster returns than traditional investments. “You can essentially sell it before you build. We’re literally building it in real time. We’re open for business every day with four credit ATMs,” he said.

He emphasized how quickly the firm can complete major transactions: “If someone hit the bid and wanted to buy $500 million in a minute, we build a building in a minute. In 60 seconds. Trade is done. Cash change changes hands. We create the collateral. We bought the Bitcoin underlying that day.”

Critics Dismissed as ‘Strategically Ignorant’

Since Strategy began its Bitcoin accumulation in October 2020 — starting with more than 20,000 BTC — the company’s aggressive strategy has faced criticism from some investors who fear shareholder dilution and volatility risk.

But Saylor dismissed these concerns, saying skeptics are “strategically ignorant.”

“The equity investors value the company based on BTC yield, the appreciation of Bitcoin per share,” he said. “Credit investors value the credit, this credit security based upon USD yield, and so just swapping a fiat yield, a yen, a euro, a US dollar yield for a BTC yield with the Bitcoin as the collateral.”

Despite market volatility, Saylor remains one of the most vocal Bitcoin advocates in the corporate world, continuing to bet on BTC’s long-term dominance as both a store of value and a balance sheet asset.
