Nyakio Grieco has reacquired beauty retailer Thirteen Lune from SNR Capital, marking a significant return for the brand’s original founder.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed, though Grieco confirmed the reacquisition alongside a group of investors who helped fund the transaction.
SNR Capital, which funnels brands into the PCA Companies, had previously acquired Thirteen Lune in 2024 before the latest ownership change.
Grieco originally cofounded the inclusive retail platform with Patrick Herning in 2020, with the business growing into a recognised name in beauty retail.
When SNR Capital completed its acquisition at the end of 2024, Grieco took on the role of chief executive officer, while Herning exited the business entirely.
Grieco reflected on the turbulent period leading up to the reacquisition, saying: “I’ve been through many challenges over the last couple of years, including restructuring and selling the assets and an acquisition at the end of 2024.”
She added: “In a unique way, what it allowed me to do was to step into my why and my passion, and it being a non-negotiable to keep going.”
Following the reacquisition, Thirteen Lune announced its first international expansion through a partnership with South African online retailer Takealot, set to go live in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The partnership will be anchored by localised activations and interactive retail pop-ups, bringing a curated portfolio of beauty brands to consumers across South Africa.
Grieco’s own clean skin care line, Relevant Beauty, will feature as part of the South African launch portfolio made available through the Takealot platform.
Grieco described the move as both a business milestone and a personal one, stating: “Taking Thirteen Lune global starting in South Africa is both a critical business expansion and a deeply personal homecoming.”
She continued: “My father dedicated years of his life’s work to South Africa, so returning to the continent that shaped my family’s legacy to launch a platform built on heritage and equity is a lifelong dream.”
Grieco added that the company intends to enter the South African market as a disruptor, creating “a direct pipeline for South African consumers to discover leading U.S. and global beauty brands.”
The expansion follows the resolution of legal matters involving Grieco and Thirteen Lune, which concluded in November 2025.
