Former Newcastle United and Crystal Palace playmaker and TalkSPORT pundit Darren Ambrose has hailed the impact of Arsenal attacker Leandro Trossard and believes the Belgian international has proven to be an ‘unbelievable signing’ for the Gunners so far.
Ambrose said to TalkSPORT: “Trossard; unbelievable signing.
“(Even at £27 million) that’s an astute signing for a player of Trossard’s ability.”
Arsenal have been unbelievable going forward this season, with defences unable to cope with their front line, and January signing Leandro Trossard has added further firepower in the middle of the season, and is currently keeping star man Gabriel Jesus out of the starting lineup.
With the Belgian international doing so well, there has been no need to hurry the talismanic striker Jesus back into the side ahead of the crucial run-in post World Cup.
Trossard’s £27 million fee is looking more and more like a bargain with every performance he puts in.
The Gunners decided to sign Belgium international Trossard after missing out on Mykhailo Mudryk, who joined Chelsea following a lengthy bidding war.
And the intelligent winger has proven he’s not just at the Emirates to just make up the numbers, and has already shown he’s more than capable of playing in Arteta’s high energy, intense attacking setup.
The Belgium international had impressed with Brighton & Hove Albion before securing a big move to the Emirates Stadium, though there may perhaps have been some eyebrows raised at the time, as the Gunners missed out on their first choice target Mudryk, who ended up joining Chelsea instead.
Still, Trossard has been superb for Arsenal, contributing one goal and six assists in his just under 600 minutes of football action, including three assists in the first half against Fulham before laying another for Granit Xhaka’s goal against Crystal Palace as Mikel Arteta’s side created a eight-point buffer at the top of the Premier League table, albeit runners-up Manchester City have a game in hand.
Arsenal fans will be thrilled with how quickly Trossard has settled in and made an impact.
