Roche has once again swept all four versions of a major neurology corporate reputation ranking compiled by patient advocacy research organisation PatientView.
The Swiss pharmaceutical giant secured top position among companies that patient groups are either familiar with or have actively worked with across the neurology sector.
Roche ranked first on both an overall list of 29 pharmaceutical companies and on a smaller ranking focused specifically on Big Pharma players.
Despite Roche’s consistent strong performance, the broader perception of the pharmaceutical industry among neurology patient groups continues to decline.
PatientView’s annual surveys of patient groups around the world included more than 2,500 organisations in its latest iteration, tracking industry sentiment across multiple therapeutic areas.
Positive ratings of the pharmaceutical industry among those broader patient groups have fallen steadily, dropping from 60% to 57% to 56% across the last three consecutive annual reports.
The neurology-specific findings mirror this wider downward trend, with patient groups growing increasingly critical of the industry’s overall corporate reputation.
There is, however, a more encouraging picture when it comes to specific activities, with neurology patient groups recording broad improvements in pharma’s performance across the sector since 2020.
PatientView compared the number of “good” and “excellent” ratings across 14 tracked activities and found increases in all but one category over that period.
The single area of decline was access to medicines, where positive ratings among neurology patient groups fell from 32% to 29% since 2020.
Despite the general improvements recorded across other activity categories, still only around a third of those 14 activities command majority positive ratings from neurology patient groups.
The findings highlight a persistent gap between pharmaceutical companies’ efforts in neurology and the expectations held by the patient organisations most directly affected by their work.
Roche’s continued dominance of the rankings underscores its standing as the most positively regarded company operating in the neurology space among patient advocacy communities.
