Source: Lazio eager to sign Luca Pellegrini from Juventus

The 23-year-old previously played for Roma, Lazio’s arch rivals, before he joined Juventus.

Lazio have expressed their interest in signing Luca Pellegrini from Juventus before the close of the winter transfer window, sources in Rome told London Insider on Thursday.

It is understood that Lazio are looking to sign the left-back on loan, with an option to buy.

Pellegrini currently plays for Eintracht Frankfurt, on loan from parent club Juve.

At this juncture, it is unclear if Juventus are willing to recall him from his loan in the Bundesliga and potentially part with him on a permanent basis.

The 23-year-old previously played for Roma, Lazio’s arch rivals, before he was sold to the Old Lady during the 2018-2019 winter transfer window.

Lazio expressing their interest in signing Pellegrini comes hot on the heels of the serial Serie A champions being docked 15 points by the Italian football federation for “false accounting”, following an appeal hearing on Friday.

The Old Lady have the option of appealing the decision to Italy’s highest sports court within the Italian Olympic Committee.

However, it is unclear at this stage if Juventus will be exploring this course of action to mitigate the blow to their chances of winning the Scudetto.

Juventus have previously denied any wrongdoing, and the Turin-based club was initially cleared by the sports court in April of last year.
