Tottenham Hotspur is set to secure the permanent signing of Pedro Porro, with the details of his impending move from Sporting already disclosed.
The Spanish player joined Spurs on loan in January and has experienced multiple changes in management during his time at the North London club.
According to football.london, Ange Postecoglou, the new head coach, is reportedly impressed with Porro’s abilities, and interestingly, both men are represented by the same agency, Base.
When Porro initially joined Tottenham on loan, the club emphasized that the 23-year-old would eventually be signed permanently in the summer.
Sporting, Porro’s parent club, provided a comprehensive account of the agreement, including the financial aspects of the transfer, which will cost Spurs a total of £38.6m.
The official statement from Sporting clarified the specifics of the deal.
The statement from Sporting read, “Sporting SAD has reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for the temporary transfer of player Pedro Porro until the end of the 2022/2023 season, for the sum of 5m euros.”
Furthermore, the statement outlined the option for Tottenham to acquire Porro’s sporting rights permanently for 40m euros, effective from July 1, 2023.
Alternatively, Sporting also has the right to exercise the option and transfer the player definitively to Tottenham.
It was also mentioned that approximately 95% of the solidarity mechanism owed to third-party clubs will be covered by Tottenham.
The statement continued, “The costs associated with the intermediary services for the aforementioned transfer amount to 427,220 euros, to which an additional amount of 2,383,780 euros will be added in the event of the player’s permanent transfer.”
Simultaneously, Tottenham agreed to transfer 15% of the rights and economic factors related to Marcus Edwards, a player from their squad, to Sporting as part of the deal.
These details unveiled by Sporting provide a transparent understanding of the financial and contractual arrangements between the two clubs.
With the permanent acquisition of Pedro Porro, Tottenham Hotspur aims to solidify their squad and harness the talents of the talented Spanish player.
