According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal and Chelsea are prepared to compete for the services of Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo in the summer.
While the Blues splashed over £200m to bring in six new players, Arsenal added two new players.
Chelsea is still quite active in the transfer market and is scrambling to get a new midfielder before the month is over.
Although Caicedo has been mentioned as a top target, Brighton and Chelsea have not yet reached an agreement.
According to Graham Potter, either Jorginho or N’Golo Kante, who are anticipated to leave the team at the end of the current campaign, would be a perfect substitute for the Ecuadorian international.
The Blues attempted to entice the South Coast club into a sale last week but had a £55 million deal rejected by Brighton.
This week, they aim to make a new offer closer to £65 million.
Caicedo recently said that he will stay at the Amex Stadium until the end of the season before making a decision about his future, but Brighton are determined that the South American won’t be moved unless their £75 million valuation is reached.
Since moving to Brighton from Independiente del Valle in 2021, Caicedo has played in 31 games and contributed to five goals, quickly becoming a fan favourite.
