Chelsea poised to sign Inter Milan star after Man City clash

No decisions regarding Onana's future will be made until after the Champions League final against Manchester City.

Chelsea Football Club is said to be planning a move for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana this summer, as the club looks for a new first-choice goalkeeper for the 2023/24 season. The futures of current goalkeepers Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy are uncertain.

Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea’s new head coach, is reportedly interested in signing not just a new goalkeeper, but also a new midfielder and attacker. Onana’s notable performances in this season’s Champions League have earned him consideration for a transfer to Stamford Bridge.

No decisions regarding Onana’s future will be made until after the Champions League final against Manchester City. It’s understood that representatives from both clubs will meet to discuss the potential transfer of Onana to Chelsea and the future of Romelu Lukaku at Inter Milan.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Onana has agreed to personal terms in principle with Chelsea. However, the Italian news outlet also reports that Inter has rejected an initial offer from Chelsea of €40million (£34m).

The meeting between Chelsea and Inter Milan is set to take place following the UEFA Champions League final, where discussions will focus on both Onana and Lukaku’s future. As per the Daily Telegraph, this meeting has been scheduled for next week after the match with Manchester City in Istanbul.
