Chelsea want to sign $75 million ex-Liverpool player

It would be surprising for the Blues to add another attacker to their frontline, given their recent acquisitions.

Chelsea Football Club is reportedly interested in signing Sadio Mane, less than a year after Liverpool sold the Senegalese international to Bayern Munich.

Mane has faced a challenging time in Germany, with Bayern Munich eliminated from both the Champions League and the DFB-Pokal, and currently in second place in the Bundesliga. Furthermore, Mane was fined for punching Leroy Sane after a recent defeat against Manchester City.

Despite these setbacks, Chelsea is considering offering Mane a fresh start. According to the Daily Mail, the club wants to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

Florian Plettenburg of Sky Germany suggests that the 31-year-old forward could be sold after the incident with Sane, given that his performance on the field has not impressed the Allianz Arena management since his transfer from Liverpool.

Mane, who cost Bayern Munich £35 million, has scored only 12 goals in 34 appearances this season – a disappointing return for a player of his caliber.

However, his outstanding record in English football, with 111 goals in 263 Premier League appearances for Southampton and Liverpool, has not deterred Chelsea from expressing interest in him.

Chelsea has already secured the arrival of Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig in a £63 million deal in July, and they are still working to integrate Noni Madueke and Mykhaylo Mudryk into their attack.

Signing Mane would also represent a shift in transfer policy for Chelsea owner Todd Boehly, who has focused on recruiting young talent rather than experienced stars like Mane. However, the unpredictable nature of football, particularly during the transfer window, means that the situation is worth monitoring.
