A major setback has occurred for Arsenal in their pursuit of Eduardo Camavinga, a Real Madrid star.
The French midfielder, 20, was wanted by the Gunners on loan until the conclusion of the current campaign, but it appears that a deal won’t go through after statements made by the player’s agent and Carlo Ancelotti.
To increase their depth in the middle of the field, the Gunners will need to bring in a midfielder.
Mikel Arteta had a strong choice in Camavinga because he had already won the Champions League.
The France international sent Edu a hint via social media to try to negotiate a contract after an apparent setback in Arsenal’s alleged interest in the midfielder.
According to Camavinga’s agent, Joshua Barnett, there is “no reality” to the rumours tying his client to a transfer to the Emirates Stadium.
Barnett told transfer guru Fabrizio Romano: “There’s no truth.
“Of course every club in the world would want him. He’s very happy in Real Madrid and Real Madrid are very happy with Camavinga.”
Carlo Ancelotti, manager of Real Madrid, echoed this sentiment when he declared, “He is untouchable. like [Toni] Kroos and [Luka] Modric.”
Even if a transfer has been downplayed, Camavinga himself has hinted at one by liking an Instagram post that stated he has been linked to a move to Arsenal.
In the same summer when Odegaard left Real Madrid for Ligue 1 club Rennes, Camavinga made the £27.7 million move to the Bernabeu, but has had trouble getting into the lineup.
According to the Evening Standard, this resulted in links with Arsenal in January.
