At the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Gunners defeated their ferocious foe 2-0.
Hugo Lloris’ own goal and Martin Odegaard’s strikes in the first half gave Arsenal the victory.
At the last whistle, tensions between Aaron Ramsdale and Richarlison erupted.
The Arsenal goalkeeper annoyed Richarlison, who shoved him in the head.
Ramsdale was kicked by a Spurs supporter as he leaned down to pick up his water bottle behind the goal before being escorted away by stewards.
It is understandable that the Arsenal players were not pleased, with Granit Xhaka being especially displeased.
Ramsdale was outstanding throughout the game and made a lot of excellent saves.
In his post-game interview with Sky Sports, he was questioned about the interaction with the Spurs fan.
“The [Spurs] fans were giving me some [stick] throughout the second half. I gave some back,” Ramsdale said.
“The few people I did do it to were well greeted and sportsmanship like. Then a fan jumped over and gave me a little punch in the back.
“That’s what happened and it’s a shame because it’s just a game of football at the end of the day.”
He added: “Both sets of players tried to bring me away. But thankfully nothing actually happened too drastic. It’s a sour taste but I’m sure we’ll enjoy it when we’re back in the dressing room.”
