Katy Perry, 38, announced to the gathering on Monday, March 27, at a curated cocktail event at Mister Paradise in New York City, “I’ve been sober for five weeks today. My partner and I have been working on a pact.”
The singer, who attended the event alongside presenter Ryan Seacrest and other American Idol judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, said, “I want to quit,” while tearing up.
Bryan, 46, inquired if the Californian was caving, to which the native instantly replied,“No, girl! I can’t cave. I made a promise. Three months.”
The “Hot N Cold” singer chose to drink one of her De Soi line’s non-alcoholic aperitifs, which debuted in January 2022.
She also gave partygoers the recipe for her cocktail, the “Golden Ticket,” which calls for a can of her Golden Hour De Soi, mint, and cucumber blended over ice.
One month after Orlando Bloom, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 46, opened up about the ups and downs in the couple’s relationship, Perry and Bloom started their no-alcohol challenge.
The Carnival Row star and the singer who have a 2-year-old daughter together, Daisy, told Flaunt Magazine in February as “being in two very different pools.”
“Her pool is not a pool that I necessarily understand, and I think my pool is not a pool that she necessarily understands.”
The native of England, who shares a 12-year-old son Flynn with ex-wife Miranda Kerr , said he and Perry, his “baby mother and life partner,” have each other’s best interests in mind.
