According to a report from the Daily Mail Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping tabs on Bristol City wonderkid Alex Scott and are interested in signing the 19-year-old midfielder.
The 19-year-old midfielder has already earned international caps at England Under-18, Under-19 and Under-20 level after impressing for the Championship outfit Bristol City ever since he arrived at Ashton Gate from non-league club Guernsey in December 2019.
Despite his tender years, Scott has done quite well for the Championship outfit in the last couple of seasons and has amassed 81 first-team outings, contributing with 5 goals and 7 assists along the way.
Dubbed as the “Guernsey Grealish”, his stellar performances have caught the attention of a number of Premier League clubs, with Wolves said to have had a bid turned down for him in January.
His latest in a string of strong showings was against Manchester City in the FA Cup on Tuesday as he dominated his opponents in an outstanding individual display despite his side falling to a 3-0 victory at home against the Citizens.
Now, Premier League top-four hopefuls Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur could battle it out for the signature of promising teenage Championship midfield star.
The England under-20 midfielder is a gifted player and he has a big future ahead of him. The opportunity to move to the Premier League could be an appealing prospect for the youngster, but Newcastle and Tottenham will have to pay up if they want to secure his services.
Apparently, Bristol City value the midfielder at £25 million and they are unlikely to budge on their valuation.
It remains to be seen whether either of the aforementioned sides are prepared to come forward with a concrete offer at the end of the season.
