Tottenham keen on Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi to fix defensive issues

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace at the end of the season.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham have been interested in the Palace star for the last two transfer windows and are anticipated to make another effort to sign him in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Regardless of who takes over as Spurs’ next head coach, one would expect the club to prioritise central defence reinforcements during the summer transfer window.

The north London club are looking for a long-term partner for Argentine international Cristian Romero.

They view Guehi as an exciting prospect, and the North London club believe the 22-year-old is a perfect fit for the sort of defender they are searching for.

Guehi has established himself as one of the most promising young defenders in the Premier League and he could prove to be a solid long-term acquisition for Tottenham if they can acquire his services.

He could prove to be an upgrade on existing underperforming players like Japhet Tanganga, Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier next season.

The Palace defender is said to be at the top of the Lilywhites’ transfer wish list, and the club will have to pay £65 million to sign him.

Marc Guehi to Tottenham – A Transfer certain to take place?

According to the report, while the Lilywhites now lead the hunt for the England international’s signature, they may face stiff competition from Manchester United for the youngster.

Meanwhile, Guehi checks a lot of boxes for the Spurs, given his age, versatility, and homegrown status.

However, the 22-year-old is under contract at Selhurst Park until 2026, which means he will not be cheap.

As per the sources, Spurs are willing to pay £45 million for the defender, but Palace will certainly demand a large sum for their prized asset.

While Spurs will need to spend heavily in the summer rebuilding their squad, Guehi could act as a viable option.
